The festival that takes place every year in Château-d'Oex was tainted with dreadful weather this year… but finally on Thursday morning, the sun rose over a blue and cloudless sky. I headed down to the festival area and was allowed (courtesy of Mike Horn VIP pass) to walk amongst the hot-air balloons as these were getting ready to take off. It still amazes me that hot air is all it takes for these balloons to take off with their heavy load of basket, gear and passengers. Wonderful scenery of the Pays-d'Enhaut as dozens of balloons of different sizes, shapes and especially colours speckle the blue sky over the snowy white mountains.
